Lent — Small Christian Community

"Yet even now, says the Lord, return to me with your whole heart...return to the Lord, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love..."  Joel 2:12-13

Wait, what?  Didn’t we just celebrate Christmas?  You are correct but Easter is very early this year, March 30th.  That means Lent begins in just a few weeks. Ash Wednesday, February 10th, will begin our Lenten season, a time when the Church calls us to prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

The GLBT Ministry, along with the rest of the Catholic Community of St. Francis, is offering Scripture reflection opportunities every week during Lent.  It is a powerful way to make your Lent a meaningful time.  We join with other GLBT persons and allies to reflect on the Scripture readings for the following week.

Dates:

Fridays in February 12, 19, 26

Fridays in March 4, 11, 18

Each week we will meet in the home of our GLBT members at 6:30 for a simple Lenten meal followed by prayer, reflection and faith sharing from 7 until 8:30 pm.

Locations will be posted in the next newsletter and will be announce at the initial gathering.  If you are not able to attend every week, join us when you can. Please remember to RSVP – that is most helpful to the host so that we can plan for the correct number for dinner.

To Subscribe to our newsletter, please contact Chris or Jane at the numbers on the right pane of this page.
